Georgia Healthy Housing Coalition (GHHC)
The Georgia Healthy Housing Coalition (GHHC) is Georgia’s only statewide coalition dedicated to improving housing stability and living conditions.
Founded and led by Georgia Appleseed since 2018, GHHC’s 80 member organizations innovate solutions to Georgia’s housing conditions crisis and collectively advocate for equity-driven policy reforms at the local, state, and federal levels. GHHC’s initiatives increase housing stability and eviction protections for tenants and increase public awareness of abusive and dangerous housing conditions.
In 2022, GHHC developed Georgia’s first Housing Advocacy Plan to improve housing conditions for Georgia’s children and families. The plan grew from community input across Georgia.
In 2019, the Georgia Healthy Housing Coalition led the charge on HB 346, a bill that proposed to ban retaliatory evictions. In May 2019, the governor signed the historic bill, making it illegal for landlords to evict tenants in retaliation for requesting needed repairs. Read about how the law is already making a difference in the lives of tenants in this recent AJC article.
