FAIR PrOJECT

overview

FAIR: Fairness, Advocacy, Individualized Representation

FAIR supports children facing removal from school, with a particular focus of those in foster care. Partnering with community organizations, Juvenile Courts, and DFCS, the program builds a network of advocates to assist these children. Key services include:

  • Trainings and Resources: Offering virtual and in-person training, online courses, and written materials to equip community members to advocate for children in school disciplinary hearings (tribunals).

  • Community Advocacy Support (CAS): Providing guidance on the tribunal process and strategic preparation for cases.

  • Direct Legal Representation: Matching children with attorneys for complex cases to ensure effective advocacy during school tribunals.

The hundreds of children who participate in the FAIR Project every year see significant improvements in educational supports and fewer days out of school for discipline challenges.
