Referral
Request help for a child facing a school disciplinary hearing.
If a child is going to be removed from the classroom for over 10 days in a school year (consecutive or cumulative), they are entitled to a school disciplinary hearing, sometimes called a “tribunal.” These tribunals are very important, and their outcomes may have a major impact on the child’s education and placement. When you refer a child by filling out the form below, we will work to connect you with advocacy support for the tribunal.
If you have any questions about the referral process, contact us by email at info@gaappleseed.org.
For a child in foster care:
This form is for foster parents, DFCS case managers, and other advocates who are looking to help a child in foster care facing long-term suspension or expulsion from school.
Once you complete this form, please share the disciplinary hearing details (date, time and subject) with your region’s Education Support Monitor and other advocates, including your child’s case manager, guardian ad litem, or MAAC coordinator.
Resources for all children:
For parents, attrorneys, and other advocates of children facing disciplinary action, we have developed a School Tribunal Toolkit.
