Jack Grote

Jack has represented and advocated for students in more than 100 school reviews and hearings, to help ensure that students with disabilities receive the support they need to succeed in school. He previously served as a Senior Staff Attorney with the Disability Integration Project at Atlanta Legal Aid Society, where he helped expand the organization’s education practice. 

In addition to his work at Legal Aid, Jack has served as Adjunct Professor at Georgia State University College of Law, co-teaching the Olmstead Disability Rights Clinic. In this role, he mentors law students and educates them on disability rights, with a focus on disparities in school discipline and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). He has provided numerous community trainings, including regular presentations on special education law to parent support groups and a yearly IEP advocacy course with the Atlanta Bar Association.

Prior to Atlanta Legal Aid, Jack worked as a Staff Attorney with Georgia Legal Services Program, where he advocated across rural Georgia for victims of domestic violence, represented clients in housing hearings, and assisted in unemployment insurance appeals.

Jack earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. An active member of the Georgia Bar, Jack’s leadership roles include Chair of the Young Lawyer’s Division Advocates for Students with Disabilities Section.
