Role Summary:

The Staff Attorney will be a key component of our School Justice, Housing Justice, and pro bono engagement initiatives. Responsibilities include legal research, drafting documents, developing policy recommendations, and representing children in foster care during school disciplinary hearings. The ideal candidate is a team player who is deeply committed to our mission of advancing justice for children in Georgia, and who embodies innovation, enthusiasm, flexibility, and curiosity.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Legal & Policy Director, Executive Director, and Policy Counsels.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal and policy documents.
  • Develop and maintain pro bono partnerships.
  • Engage in community networking and create resources for advocates.
  • Participate in travel for coalition facilitation and partnership meetings.
  • Contribute to reporting, newsletters, social media, and website updates.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and a license to practice law in Georgia.
  • Strong commitment to social justice and passion for our mission.
  • Excellent communication skills and adeptness in working with collaborators.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office 365.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Annual salary of $60,000 to $80,000, based on experience.

Location:
This full-time position is based in Atlanta, GA, with a combination of remote and in-office work, plus travel throughout Georgia as needed.
