Why Housing is Health

What To Expect at Georgia Healthy Housing Day at the Capitol

On January 21, 2026, members of the Georgia Healthy Housing Coalition (GHHC), lawmakers, and community partners will gather under the Gold Dome for the first-ever Georgia Healthy Housing Day at the Capitol.

This important event will spotlight how housing directly impacts health, education, and economic outcomes for Georgia families — and why safe, stable homes are essential to the well-being of our communities.

Housing is expected to be a central focus of the 2026 General Assembly, with legislators considering a range of proposals that could affect families across the state. By coming together early in the session, GHHC members aim to ensure that real stories and data shape the conversation.

Throughout the morning, coalition members will host educational tables and speak with lawmakers about the challenges their communities face. The day will also feature a brief press conference at the South Steps with remarks from GHHC leaders, community partners, and Georgia residents who have experienced housing instability firsthand.

These lived experiences are at the heart of GHHC’s work. As part of the Tenant Testimonial Project, Georgia Appleseed and coalition partners have gathered stories from renters — stories that illustrate both the struggles and the resilience of Georgia families navigating housing insecurity.

Together, GHHC members are committed to ensuring that every Georgian has access to safe, healthy, and affordable housing.

Join us on January 21 to ensure that every Georgia family has a safe and healthy home.
