Timely Tribunals and Instructional Materials

Georgia Appleseed has been working with partners and legislators to ensure that public school students facing disciplinary action have access to timely tribunals and instructional materials. 

Georgia Appleseed’s policy team drafted Senate Bill 169 to respond to the challenges we encountered through our FAIR Initiative, as children awaited a school disciplinary hearing. 

This bipartisan bill clarifies the tribunal process for schools, parents and guardians, minimize catch-up burden for teachers and learning loss for students. The bill passed in the 2024 legislative session. Follow SB169 here.
