Role Summary:
Georgia Appleseed is excited to announce an opening for a Development Associate to support our mission through effective fundraising and donor management. This role is crucial for driving our initiatives that focus on the most marginalized children in Georgia, including Black and Brown children, children experiencing poverty, LGBTQ+ children, children with disabilities, and children in foster care. The Development Associate will work closely with the Director of Engagement & Development to enhance our fundraising efforts and ensure robust donor relations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Data & Donor Management
- Prepare and distribute acknowledgment letters for all donations.
- Accurately record and maintain donation records in the database.
- Ensure the donor database is up-to-date with accurate contact information.
Grant/Foundation Support
- Research potential funding opportunities from foundations, government agencies, corporate, and community sources.
- Assist with the preparation of grant proposals, letters of interest, and related materials.
- Maintain grant records and the organizational grants calendar.
- Monitor grant application and reporting timelines.
- Provide support in reviewing and editing grant documents.
- Track grant deliverables and gather information for grant reports.
General Donor/Fundraising Support
- Coordinate donor appeals, including drafting, editing, mailing, and tracking outcomes.
- Assist with social media and newsletter communications.
- Schedule meetings with prospective donors.
- Develop and implement materials for fundraising event promotion.
- Support staff at community and special events.
- Conduct prospect research and prepare donor and funder briefs/reports.
- Assist with post-event data and metrics reporting.
- Participate in donor cultivation efforts.
- Provide administrative support as needed.
Education and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and the mission of Georgia Appleseed.
- College degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in development.
- Knowledge of nonprofit development and fundraising fundamentals.
- Familiarity with the metro Atlanta philanthropic community.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- High aptitude for data management and proficiency with technology systems, including Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, Constant Contact, social media platforms, and CRM/donor management software.
Salary and Benefits:
- Annual salary of $60,000-$72,500, based on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance.

Location:
This full-time position is based in Cobb County, Atlanta, GA, with a combination of remote and in-office work. The role also requires travel throughout Georgia as needed.
