Jessica McKinney

Director of Contract & Risk Management, GE Energy

Jessica is the Director of Contract & Risk Management for General Electric’s Digital Energy Projects organization. She has been at GE since 2008 and leads a global team of Contract Risk Managers who support the business from inception through execution in contract negotiations, risk identification and dispute and claim mitigation. Jessica also serves as liaison to the General Counsel of Litigation and outside counsel. Prior to GE, Jessica was Counsel at Kilpatrick Stockton, now Kilpatrick Townsend, with the Construction & Infrastructure Litigation Practice Group where she represented owners, developers, contractors, architects and engineers in all facets of infrastructure development including, procurement, contract preparation and negotiation, risk management, and litigation. Jessica started her legal career with the insurance defense firm of Webb Carlock, Copeland, Semler & Stair, now Carlock Copeland.

Jessica has been an outspoken advocate for the community for years, focusing her time and talents on serving on several boards for organizations that support children, the marginalized and those with special needs. Jessica is Board-Elect for Georgia Appleseed a nonprofit public interest justice center that leverages the work of volunteer attorneys and other professionals to build a just society through legal, legislative and market-based structural reform. Jessica is also on the Board of Elite Women of Excellence, Inc. a 501(c)(3) that works with young girls, from all socio-economic backgrounds, to motivate them to make good choices, influence society, engage in their community and establish and achieve personal goals. Jessica has also served on the Board of Directors of Citizen Advocacy of Atlanta-Dekalb, an organization committed to finding advocates for people with disabilities, who are socially devalued, to protect them from discrimination and social exclusion. She frequently volunteers to assist with such worthy causes as the Special Olympics, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and the United Way.

Jessica has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Language and Linguistics from Georgetown University. She received her law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. Jessica is fluent in Spanish and Italian. Jessica is a happy single mother to two fantastic children – ages 16 and 2, so she spends her “spare time” giving driving lessons and playing with legos.
