Fernando Silas

Operations and Communications Manager

Fernando Silas

Fernando grew up in the Caribbean island of Barbados and is a former entrepreneur and Business Development Manager for one of the largest Travel Management companies in the Caribbean. He completed his undergraduate studies in Accounting at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus in Barbados, and a Masters in Risk Management at the University of Southampton in England.

Fernando is passionate about Georgia Appleseed's philosophy to increasing justice for vulnerable groups across Georgia, and their willingness to embrace differences in children. He has an older brother with special needs who was homeless and unable to get the quality care and housing needed to live a productive life. Consequently, Georgia Appleseed's mission resonates very strongly with him. While volunteering at the Atlanta Boys & Girls Club in Decatur, Fernando was introduced to children from vulnerable groups and the importance of providing supportive and nurturing environments for children.

He is also a bodybuilding aficionado in his spare time and can be found playing a few rounds of tennis where banter and friendly competition are welcome.
