Becky Hudock
Senior Policy Counsel
Becky has spent her career fighting for indigent clients in courts of law and advocating on their behalf for increased access to substance abuse treatment and mental health supports.
Prior to joining Georgia Appleseed as Senior Policy Counsel, Becky proudly served as a Public Defender in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania for fourteen years. After 8 years of practicing in the adult criminal division she was appointed as the Director of the Office’s Juvenile Delinquency Division where she witnessed how inadequate education supports, particularly for children of color and children with disabilities, resulted in increased contact with the juvenile court system. In 2018 she expanded the scope of the division’s practice to education advocacy and ultimately created the Office’s first Education Unit to advocate for kids in the school setting.
Becky served as a Board Member for the Juvenile Defender Association of Pennsylvania for six years and was appointed by Governor Tom Wolf to serve on the Pennsylvania State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision. She received her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law, New Orleans.
